Jade Andersen, born in 2003 is a contemporary visual artist working and living in Sydney’s Northern Beaches on Guringai Land. Graduating with a Bachelor OF Fine Arts (BFA) in 2024 from the National Art School, Andersen is actively refining her artistic practice whilst working in the arts, as an art instructor at Make Your Mark Art, Brookvale and recently as a Gallery Assistant at Michael Reid Northern Beaches Her career in the arts has furthered her engagement and love for the arts community.
Living and working in Sydney, Andersen has spent the past two years defining her style in a combination of photography and printmaking, specialising in hyper-realistic, large-scale screenprints. She explore themes of the fragility and complexity of the human form. By blending meticulous control with organic fluidity, her prints blur the line between familiar and unsettling, inviting viewers to confront both the beauty and discomfort within her subjects.
Andersen’s art has been showcased in several notable exhibitions, including The national art school graduate show (2024), a group show at the Backspace Gallery (2024), the Rotary Art Show hosted by the Northern Beaches Council (2024), and a group exhibition at Tap Gallery (2023). Her work has gained recognition as a finalist in the Mosman Art Prize, and her pieces are in private collections across NSW’s Northern Beaches and the South Coast including the national art school's archive collection. Additionally, her artistic contributions have garnered attention, with her work featured in publications such as Dither AU (2024).
Looking ahead, Andersen continues to push the boundaries of her practice, exploring new dimensions of bodily perception through her evolving printmaking techniques. Her upcoming projects aim to further investigate the emotional and psychological intersections between form and identity, as she continues to make her mark on the contemporary Australian art scene.
